The most common injuries at festivals are ankle sprains and blisters, hopefully these little tips will help you keep your feet in tip top shape!

• Get yourself a well fitted pair of wellies or hiking boots, if it stays hot a good pair of trainers should do… You are on a farmer’s field, slip-ons, and flimsy shoes just aren’t going to cut it!
• Your socks need to be longer than your wellies.
• Wear your footwear beforehand – get used to wearing them.
• Avoid those slippery slopes, even if it is that shortcut.
• Limit what you take and have to carry about, so less load on your feet and less chance of falling.
• If you have previously sprained or broken your ankle, opt for a hiking boot to support your ankle, you are at a much higher risk of it happening again.
• Don’t ever walk around barefoot!! (resist the urge – it’s not worth getting any nasties embedded).
• In the day change your socks regularly to clean dry ones. At night, get those sweaty hot boots off and air those feet.
• Don’t ignore blisters, cover them up – especially if they’ve popped.
• Equally don’t ignore infections – the medical teams are there to help you.
Enjoy your festival, Heather
